"we were standing on top of the world right where we should be - together."
Our story begins some 2000 miles away and 35+ years ago on a quiet suburban South Florida street. I was skipping rope out front of my house, I wasn’t really allowed to go more than a house or two from my driveway, when a boy a little younger than me came pedaling up from the far end of the street on his Big Wheel with his big untamed hair just to tell me he didn’t like me. “I don’t like you either!”
As we grew older our friendship grew too. We spent time walking home from school in the rain, playing video games at 7-11 and splitting Crazy Bread from Little Caesars (back when it was $1.10 a bag).

Within A Year...
Within a year we were standing on top of the world with the most breathtaking sunset with Justyna as husband and wife. Most nights when winding down one of us will look at the other in awe of how it happened, how two friends so very long ago ended up right where we should be - together.
Sadly the growing up didn’t stop and we grew apart, losing sight of each other. Shortly (like ten minutes) after high school I had a baby, got married and left South Florida - forever.
Over the years we would bump into each other online and say “hi” or hear from other people how the other was doing. It wasn’t until the summer of 2021 when Daryl posted on Facebook a drawing of a paper bag they he had drawn. I had always admired his drawing style and told him so.
"we were standing on top of the world right where we should be - together."
That started a conversation that we couldn’t stop. Within a day or two we were on the phone and facetime catching up from the past lifetime of stories. Soon after Daryl drove from South Florida to Denver just to come see me. Which was a bummer because I was in Scotland. He picked me up from the airport which is not something you readily ask your friends to do from DIA it’s almost in Kansas.
