Nick and Marissa met in October of 2015, their first date was at Rock Bottom on the 16th street mall. Nick drove all the way from Wyoming for the date and never officially met Marissa until that day. Both were nervous to meet each other. But now they are so thankful they did. As months went by they fell in love not only with each other, but with God. Nick and Marissa brought each other closer to faith and were later baptized together in August of 2016.
After a year and a half for dating, Nick popped the question. But he first had to ask for permission. Nick and Marissa’s dad Vince went to lunch and Vince’s only request was that their future children’s AFC football team has to be the Broncos. Nick agreed, sort of.
It was on April 8th 2017. Marissa had no idea, she thought she was just taking a break from studying to enjoy some fresh air. Earlier in the day Marissa’s Brother and Nick went to scope out the trail and on the way home Andrew got a flat tire. The day was filled with perfectly imperfect moments. Nick was planning on bringing Blu in the car with Marissa’s Dad at Home Depot. However, Marissa being clueless wanted to go with them to the store. Luckily, Nick told Andrew there has been a change of plans and to pick up Blu Bear at Marissa’s house.
As a few hours past, poor Andrew was getting sunburnt on the trail waiting for Nick and Marissa to arrive. When they started the hike Marissa had no idea what was about to happen. Halfway through the hike Nick said to Marissa, “Oh look! an old English sheepdog.” Marissa ran towards the stranger in shock and knew it was Blu Bear. Marissa went down to check to tag to notice it was different. She became very confused and honestly thought it was the mans dog. Nick wanting Marissa to pay more attention to the tag said to Marissa, “Well whats the dogs name then.” Marissa read the tag that said, “Will you marry Nick?” She was very shocked and she turned around and Nick was on one knee with the ring and said, “Well Ms. Lombardi, the time has finally come will you marry me?” Marissa was shaking uncontrollably and without a doubt said yes.
The day was very special and it was even more special that Marissa’s brother, dad and pup were all involved. Marissa’s instantly called her sister and mom to let them know what just happened. Not a moment later the wedding planning began. On the way home they called Nick’s parents and Nick’s mom Kim said something to Marissa that will always be so special to her, “Welcome to the family we are so excited for you two!” Nick and Marissa are so excited to make a promise to God and to each other. This journey will be an amazing one….
